OSCAR-Alarm! und andere Dinge
Stefan Gieren, unser Produzent von PRO KOPF und dem Superhero Blog, wurde OFFIZIELL für den OSCAR (genau der!) nominiert! Nun hoffen wir doch mal, dass er ihn am 26. Februar auch bekommt!
Die anderen Dinge: Für mich heißt es neues Jahr, neuer Film. Mein Co-Autor Tommy Draper und ich habe bereits angefangen einen neuen Spielfilm zu schreiben. Mal sehen, was die Filmförderung davon hält :)

Im Schneideraum...
Nach ein paar anstrengenden Drehtagen sitze ich nun im Schneideraum mit meine Kurzfilm THE MAID (AT). Anbei gibt's schon einmal ein paar Bilder.

Frohes Neues Jahr
Das Jahr fängt gut an: Am 9. + 10. Januar drehen wir den Kurzfilm THE MAID. Dies wird mein Beitrag für den diesjährigen Shocking Short Award.
Auch meine Webserie The Ultimate Superhero Blog breitet sich langsam aus. Neben Youtube und Facebook ist sie nun auch auf Blib.tv zu sehen. Noch sind nicht alle Folge online, aber das kommt alles mit der Zeit.

Selling Hereos & The Maid
Auch das ist nun endlich auf dem Weg: Der Kurzfilm THE MAID wird Anfang Januar 2012 im Suite Hotel in Hamburg gedreht. Juhuuuuu!!!
In den letzten Wochen war mal Zeit, um eine neue Sitcom Web-Serie zu entwickeln: SELLING HEROES wird das gute Stück heißen. Geplant sind 10 Folge a' 3 - 5 Min und spielen wird das ganze in einem Comic Laden - nicht in irgendeinem sondern im Comic Room Hamburg. Die 10 Stories sind bereits geschrieben, nun geht's ans Drehbuch! Davon bald mehr!

Superhero Blog startet
Nun ist es endlich soweit: Unsere Webserie, The Ultimate Superhero Blog, startet am 7. November auf Facebook, Twitter und einem eigenen Youtube Channel. Verfolgt live und in Farbe Robin W. Schrader, einen Jungen aus Hamburg, der nach New York zieht, um bei Captain Impact ein Praktikum als Superheld macht. Klickt drauf, schaut's euch & kommt wieder für die nächste Folge.

Neue Projekte und so weiter...
Puuhhh... lange kein Update auf meiner Homepage.
Zu aller erst möchte ich mein aktuelles Projekt bekannt geben - oder WIEDER bekannt geben: THE MAID. Dabei handelt es sich um einen Kurzfilm, der bereits im letzten Jahr gedreht werden sollte. Das ganze wurde durch laaaaaange vertragliche Geschichte aufgehalten. Nun ist alles in trockenen Tüchern.
Produziert wird der Film von Stefan Gieren und seiner Firma Fiction Zwei Null. Da Stefans letzter Kurzfilm den diesjährigen Studenten-Oscar gewonnen hat, sind unsere Ansprüche besonders hoch :)
Ziel ist allerdings den Shocking Short Award 2012 abzugreifen!
Die Kamera übernimmt David Rankenhohn, der auch schon bei meinem letzten Spielfilm für die Bilder verantwortlich zeichnete. Wir haben es uns bei dem Kurzfilm natürlich wieder neue Hürden gesteckt und Probleme geschaffen: Ein Hotelzimmer, ein Schauspieler, ein Telefon - Ende.
Ich habe gestern die aktuelle Version des Drehbuchs von Autor Tommy Draper bekommen - es folgen noch ein paar kleine Änderungen und ZACK können wir produzieren. Derzeit bin ich mit dem Produzenten auf Schauspielersuche - wir haben da schon ein paar sehr interessante Gesichter gefunden...
Ein neuer Titel muss noch her - wir drehen nämlich auch mal in deutsch :)

Und der Oscar geht an…
Wie ich soeben erfahre habe, wurde der Produzent des Superhero Blogs, Stefan Gieren, mit dem Studenten-Oscar ausgezeichnet für seinen Abschlussfilm RAJU. Raju wurde unter enormen Aufwand in Indien produziert und räumt der derzeit alle Preise ab, die man sich nicht kaufen kann. Glühstrumpf!
Wir arbeiten derzeit wie wild daran die Web Serie "The Ultimate SuperHero Blog" online zu bekommen. Details kommen folgen so schnell wie möglich!
Außerdem öffnen sich schon wieder die Wege zu neuen Produktionen. Mehr dazu, wenn's spruchreif ist.

Long time no see
It's been awhile since my last news report. Too much to do but I'm here now to give my 2 or 3 readers a wee update.
My latest feature film SUPERHERO DOC is now re-titled THE ULTIMATE SUPERHERO BLOG because of too much confusion - some people really thought SUPERHERO DOC is a movie about a doctor with super powers - well, what can I say :) Anyway, new title is THE ULTIMATE SUPERHERO BLOG – so you know what to search for on Google (or any other good search engines).
Oh yes, we are on IMDB.com! Check out the Superhero Blog title card HERE!
What else is new... Oh yeah, some film company is interested talking with us about a second season of the Superhero Blog! Can't say much right now, but will keep you updated.
We also got contacted by two major distributors who actually wanna see the Superhero film. If they like it who knows what comes next. So, we wait.
I think I forgot to mention that the Superhero Blog had a screening in February at the Berlinale which went pretty well. After that we went straight back to the editing room to cut it down about 10 minutes. We're happy now. I will post a few Berlinale pics soon on Facebook.
Right, enough of the superhero stuff. We got other films coming too - promise! There is actually a treatment written by Tommy Draper and me for a short action movie. Been looking for shooting locations already.

Happy New Year
Well, here I am back and it’s 2011. Nothing’s changed! I'm working on a trailer for the SUPERHERO BLOG and trying to finish the editing for the upcoming short LILLI.
The SUPERHERO BLOG web series gets the final sound design and sound mix right now.

New feature film
The end of the year comes nearer and nearer and now I'm finally able to tell you the title of my new feature film: SUPERHERO BLOG: THE DOCUMENTARY.
We shot this nice little ‘thing’ during the shoot of the web series. The film is 90% edited and in January we will shoot a couple of new interviews to finish it. I know it’s called DOCUMENTARY but it actually is a fake one - a MOCKUMENTARY. It will be released in February - which is 4 weeks before the web series goes live at www.superhero-blog.com. Our world premiere will be on the 15th February in Berlin - in the cinema of course :) As soon as I know more I'll let you know.

LILLI is done!
After a very easy day of shooting my short LILLI is done. Now cut the few pieces together and we are ready to go to the sound designer and the music composer. As for the composer: It will be my old friend Jan Dugge who scored all my films for the last few years. We decided to go with a Desperate Housewives kinda score.

Unbelievable but…true!
As you all know I still got this tiny short LILLI laying around here – unfinished cause one scene is missing. After months of waiting (honestly) we have found a date on which we can finish our baby. We got lots of delays ‘cause I had lots of jobs and so had the actors. But now we are ready to shoot… again... at last! We will wrap it up on the 20th of December. Finally! So come back to check for more news and previews of LILLI very very soon.

Over And Out!
The shooting of the Blog is done. Now we are stuck in the editing part.
There comes a surprise with this news: In the meantime I also managed to shoot my second full length feature film with Production Company Fiction 2.0! It’s a secret project at this time which means I can’t tell you the title right now. All I can reveal is that 90% of the movie is shot and we’ll continue shooting in January 2011, just a few bits and pieces – nothing major. Seems like we are spending the whole December cutting together what we got so far. I’ll keep you updated!

SUPERHERO BLOG - over soon!
Last day of shooting! We did a terrific job and shot 20 episodes with a length of 7 mins EACH! I guess we have to split the series into 40 episodes now :) I recommend everyone to do a show about Superheroes! It's awesome fun and I haven’t laughed that much in ages about a films or T.V. series. We had a great script, great actors, a great set and just great people on board! So, again: Thx to everyone who lent us their time and talent to create something really cool and funny.

2 Films - 2 Festivals - YEAH!
That is awesome: 25 CENT still isn’t dead! Even a billion years after shooting people still seem to be very interested in screening and laughing about it. Brilliant! The short will be screened in Berlin at the Short Cuts program on the Dec 01, 2010. Thx again for taking and showing it!
LITTLE SECRETS finally got another official selection too: It will be shown at the zwergWERK - Oldenburg Short Film Days which takes place from the 25th – 28th November.

SUPERHERO BLOG
I'm in the middle of writing the first couple of episodes for our brand new web series: SUPERHERO BLOG. I'm sure we can suprise you all with a very fresh and off-beat little sitcom. Keep your eyes open for more updates soon.
We are still in the casting process to find the perfect match of actors. I'm pretty sure I can post a few names soon - maybe a few photos too. All I can say at this point is we found some very talented people.
In our last meeting we decided to start shooting in early November. Better late than never, right?

25 CENT is not in the official selection of the Zubroffka Short Film Festival (Poland) and the Cinefest - Miskolc Short Film Festival (Hungary) but gets a nice screening there anyway.
The Zubroffka Festival takes place from Dec 02 - 05, 2010 in Poland.
The Cinefest - Miskolc Short Film Festival takes place from Sep 10 - 19, 2010 in Hungary.

TV screening for 25 CENT
What a surprise: 25 CENT gets another TV screening on the 2nd September in VIENNA, Austria! It’s getting screened at the Okto.tv channel during the "Film Frei" short film programme.

Re-cut for LILLI
The upcoming short LILLI has been re-edited and works smoother now. There are still some tiny things here and there that bother me but we will work that out within the next couple of days. And then we can finally shoot the last two missing scenes, then the movie can be put together for real!

Five Lamps in Derby, UK
Last night I got lucky with another requested screening of my short film 25 CENT in Derby, England. It was shown at the Five Lamps Film night at Derby Quad. They screened it earlier this year but it seems that there was a request from guests who asked for "'that movie with the girls in bunny outfits who rob a Gas station".
So, thanks for enjoying my short - again :) And of course thanks for another showing at the Five Lamps Films. It's a shame I couldn't be there but my friend and co-writer Tommy Draper was there to represent the film with a little info. We both can't wait to present our "still in post-production" short film called LILLI. I'm pretty sure we will offer Five Lamps the film as one the first screeners.

First cut ready AND another festival
The first cut of LILLI is now complete. Now I have to watch it again and again and again and show it some people to get feedback. So far it works pretty well and it is really funny but in a weird kind of way.
Second thing: 25 CENT has been accepted to the Sea Breeze Film Festival in Tampa, USA! It has its screening today! Check out their website.

SUPERHERO BLOG
I created a web series with producer Stefan Gieren. It's called SUPERHERO BLOG. The first season will have 20 episodes each 2 mins long (or short depending on how you look at it). It's about a German youth who travels to the USA to get into a trainee program to become a Superhero sidekick. I had this idea in my head since a few years and after I saw Joss Whedon’s ‘Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog’ I thought: ‘Hey, that actually works - maybe it's the time to drag my idea around a producer’. So I started working on the main idea.
Then I saw the first trailer of Kick-Ass and I was like ‘WHAT?????’ So, I met with my producer at the Berlinale and we talked about the SUPERHERO BLOG and decided to work on it together. Stefan came up with lots of great story ideas and later that evening he sent me a one page story. And now, a few weeks later, we are finished and it's fantastic.
But even better: Out of more than 60 submissions for a first project call First Motion finally selected seven innovative ideas which will be granted funding and SUPERHERO BLOG is one of them!
That’s right, they actually give us money to produce the SUPERHERO BLOG. It is part-financed by the European Union (European Regional Development Fund and European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument). Besides First Motion there is the Baltic Sea Region Programme and the Hamburger Filmförderung involved!
We go into production in October 2010!

Best of...
Tonight 25 Cent will screened once more over in England! This time at the Best Of SpeechMotion film night. We were screened at SpeechMotion once (a few months ago) but this is the FINAL ‘Best Of’ and my tiny film is one of them. Thanks guys at SpeechMotion - that’s awesome!

Shooting LILLI
Right, we have finished shooting the 2nd and 3rd act of LILLI in the woods. The 1st act (the interior scene) will be shot in a couple of weeks. So, how was the shoot? All in all we got everything we needed to make a film - that's good so far. Shooting with the three actresses was lots of fun; the crew were fantastic - even after I ruined their football world cup game on TV (Germany vs. England!). At least we had a radio.
The only thing that really bugged me was THE WOODS! The sun was shining bright (too bright), it was hot as hell and YES I got bitten by 5 bloody ticks! How was my weekend, you ask? Friggin' awesome! Well, after the five bites I was in the emergency room twice and had to visit two more Doctors. One tick was so deep in my leg that they couldn't get it out - SO they cut it open, dragged that little bastard out and stitched me together, for real!
So, thx to the woods! And never ever again! Good night!

LILLI
Only a couple of days away from a weekend of shooting the exteriors for LILLI. Cast and creware ready to go. Very excited to see how it will translate from script to screen. Had a very very long meeting with out camera guy today to discuss how and what to shoot. We got tons of papers scribbled full with ideas, shots and weird looking stick-fugers.
Tomorrow I'll get the first trunk full of equipment. We will get the rest on friday.

This weekend, 26 + 27 June, LILLI is being filmed out the woods near Hamburg. We got a lovely little team around and will have lots of fun.

New short film coming along
As we have a tiny delay on the THE MAID short film we (Tommy and me) decided to write something new to shoot. The cast of my short film 25 CENT have waited 2 years (once again, sorry) for a new project for written especially for them. But, finally the wait is over! The script is called LILLI and it's a very very black comedy.
If the weather finally decides to stay in a good mood we will shoot the short at the end of the month in a forest near Hamburg. I won't tell too much about the story ‘cause it should be a surprise. BUT just imagine three girls carrying a shovel and a plastic body bag through the woods and you’ll have some idea what’s coming your way very, very soon!

Five Lamps Films
Oonce again 5 Lamps Films screened Little Secrets. It wasn't submitted this time but Tommy Draper (my amazingly talented co-writer) was in the audience and, as luck would have it, had a copy of the movie on him. During the interval a friend of his asked if they could play it. Naturally the nice folks at 5 Lamps said 'yes, of course, we love that movie' and it finished the night.

And, if the film festival wasn't enough excitement, The Maid screenplay is almost ready. A read through has happened with the actors so just a few tweeks to the script remain then we're ready to go. Watch this space for updates on the production.

Bulgaria here we are!
LITTLE SECRETS is in another film festival! Hurrah!
This time it has made the final selection at the Film Palace Festival in Balchik, Bulgaria (I think this is the first outing for Little Secrets in Bulgaria) on 19.06.10 - 26.06.10.
No more details of the when's and where's Secrets will be played but here is the link for more information about the festival and the movies already selected.
